How to navigate the Online Learning Hub

The learning platform hosts all of the learning activities and materials for courses delivered by SECAD Partnership.

You will find all course information, the self-paced learning materials and links to join our online workshops.

How to Log In

Click on the following link to access SECAD Learning Platform:

If you are already a registered user on our learning platform then you use your current email and password to sign into the Platform, if you do not know your current password then you can use the “Reset your password” link on the platform sign-in screen and have a new password emailed to you immediately.

How to Search for a Course

When you log in, you will see a list of course categories.  Click on category and the screen will update to display all the  information about the courses available in that category.

SICAP Process

This registration form must be completed by all users who satisfy pre-defined criteria. When you register as a user, the system will automatically determine if you are eligible as a SICAP client.

How to Complete a course

Course Delivery

The courses are delivered using a blended approach, many of the courses are delivered through video which you can complete in your own time and repeat as often as you wish. In some cases, mentoring and live instructor led webinars will be offered.

Each course on our online learning platform begins with an introduction describing the following:

Objectives

The learning objectives describe what you can expect to learn from the course you have chosen. You will understand the new knowledge and skills that you will learn.

Course Materials

For some courses there are a List supporting course materials which you can download and print. There are also links to website to help you on your learning journey.

Course Units

Each unit begins with a short video, and they are available for you to listen to the videos as often as you need to.

Note: You will need to listen to each video in the order they are shown.

What You Will Need

Laptop

A laptop with a good internet connection. It is preferable not to use the laptop’s microphone or speakers as this can cause feedback problems for other attendees.

Internet Speed

Ensure your internet has a good broadband connection.

Quiet Place

If possible find a quiet place to join the session free from distraction and noise.

Next Steps

1. Login

Sign into the Platform and familiarise yourself with it and the course content.

2. Read through documentation

Read through the Participant’s Guideline document carefully so that you are familiar with how its contents. If you need any explanations or help, let use know.

Live Training Sessions

There will be a regular timetable of live webinars delivered by instructors and trainers. These interactive sessions are designed to enable you the learner to participate by asking questions and contributing to the discussion. 

Please note that these training sessions will not be recorded. The material used in these sessions will be added to this training site.

If you have any concerns please wait to speak with the course instructor after the course.

Before your online learning session please ensure that you read the attached document to ensure that you understand how to access Zoom, raise a hand and add comments to the chat feature.

Headset with Microphone

Please be aware you are accessing the sessions via VOIP and to get the best from the session you will need a headset with microphone, preferably a headset with a USB connection.

Mute your Computer Microphone

You should NOT use your computer’s speakers and microphone as this causes feedback problems for other attendees.

Log In early

Please ensure you log onto your virtual workshop at least 15 minutes early to ensure that any initial audio problems can be rectified.

Turn Off Your Phone

Turn off your phones, disable background programmes and be prepared to concentrate on the course for the duration
Participate, interact.

Tips for Preparing for Virtual Instructor-Led Online Learning

Practice Using The Technology

It may sound obvious but before going live, preparation is essential. Even when familiar with the technology it is always best to conduct a test run with a colleague or friend before attending the training session.

Have a Backup Plan

Downloaded Zoom, to your phone as well as the laptop before the session starts. If the laptop is slow to respond then you can dial in from the phone. It is not ideal but it will enable you to tune into the session. 

As the sessions are not recorded it is important that you attend. 

Mark Your Calendar

Set up automatic meeting reminders when booking to attend the training session to ensure you do not miss the event.

Please read the attached document to ensure that you understand how to access the Zoom room, raise a hand and add comments to the chat feature.
